Motion Recognition
Technologies usually exploited in RTLS area can also be used effectively for motion recognition if they are handled more precisely and intelligently. Changes of motion can be detected and categorized by using acceleration sensors and geomagnetic sensors. They can be used as event signals triggering other predefined actions. Drawing geometrical figures such as circles and triangles as well as shaking, turning or inclination can be such examples. This technology can be used for motion-recognized remote controls which are getting more and more popular in consumer products area.
Just as in RTLS, the core technology is tightly related to handling sensors. Acceleration sensors , geomagnetic sensors, or gyroscopes can be adopted to measure various kinds of physical phenomenon applied to them by gravity, geomagnetic field, or inertia forces. Combining these sensors appropriately improves the accuracy of the recognition.
